Collaboration Between VOICES ADFOCAD and NUCUF
VOICES ADFOCAD and the National Unpaid Carers Union & Forum (NUCUF) are proud to announce a new collaboration designed to strengthen the voice, power, and representation of unpaid carers and kinship carers across Wales and the UK.
This partnership brings together two peer‑led, lived‑experience organisations committed to the same core principle: those who live the reality of unpaid and kinship care must be at the centre of shaping the policies, systems, and decisions that affect their lives.
Why This Collaboration Matters
- Lived‑experience leadership - Both organisations are founded and led by carers, ensuring that national advocacy is grounded in real‑world experience rather than assumptions.
- Stronger national representation - Together, we will amplify the voices of carers who are too often unheard in policy spaces.
- Shared commitment to rights and accountability - Our collaboration strengthens efforts to close the gap between the rights set out in legislation and the daily reality of caring.
- Building a united movement - By aligning our work, we aim to support a more coordinated, confident, and visible carers’ movement across the UK.

ABOUT US!
VOICES ADFOCAD came into being during January 2024 in the spirit of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
This newly established Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) has been developed by, for and with Unpaid carers in Wales. Founding members Mike O'Brien and Bobbie-Jo are committed to putting the views, concerns, and aspirations of Welsh Unpaid Carers at the heart of everything the organisation does and aspires towards.
VOICES ADFOCAD will work towards the advancement of human rights by raising awareness of the roles and rights of Welsh Unpaid Carers – young and old, from all walks of life, abilities, and backgrounds to ensure that the unique voice of the individual is listened to, heard, and actively included in all relevant matters – from grassroots to policy-making levels and back again.
By advocating the VOICE of Unpaid Carers at local, regional and national levels via meetings across all sectors, and with government officials, academics and Unpaid Carers, VOICES ADFOCAD aims to promote and engage in meaningful opportunities to co-produce services, policy and implementation models.
Unpaid Care cuts across all areas of daily life and the inclusion of Unpaid Carers is an intrinsic part of creating solutions that are successful and work towards the preservation of the human rights of all citizens of Wales.
VOICES ADFOCAD will work towards a more equal and fair society that embraces equity, diversity and the inclusion of Unpaid Carers across Wales – with the core aim of recognising, respecting and valuing the significant impact of unpaid care towards a sustained Health and Social Care sector that invests significantly to our Welsh economy.
VOICES ADFOCAD is unable to provide legal advice to groups, organisations or individuals and will endeavour to continue to signpost towards those who can.
